There really weren't any capitalist or libertarian undertones in this weeks episode of MLP:FIM, but I'll write a little synopsis anyways. The plot for this episode was fairly simplistic, but the wholesome messsage about the importance of reading isn't one I disagree with at all.
Spoilers below:
Prior to the theme song, Pinky Pie, Rarity and Twilight are shown watching Rainbow Dash performing in the sky, only to crash. After the theme song, it is revealed that RD in her crash, has broken one of her wings and will need to stay in the hospital for a few days to recover. Dismayed at her condition, Twilight suggests to her to read an adventure book "Daring Do" which RD rebukes her for, insinuating that only eggheads read.
After what was either 1 minute or 12 hours, RD is shown being bored out of her mind, and eventually picks up the book.
She starts to read the tail of an adventures Pegasus pony who goes through an Indiana Jones style of adventure, escaping from 5 predators, navigating through a booby-trap laden temple, finding a tresure, and escaping from the clutches of an evil, mastermind cat creature. Rainbow is hooked and loves the story so much, she is unable to put the book down.
Throughout the story, RD is interrupted as the other Mane-5 ponies stop by to check on her, to which she rudely or sneakily shoos them away to continue reading.
Just as RD reads to the climax of the story, the Doctor informs her that her condition has improved enough that they are discharging her from the hospital. Dismayed at not being able to finish reading, RD desperately tries to get into the hospital to finish the story. First by pretending her injury has returned, then second by sneaking in at night and being mistaken as a burglar.
As the hospital security chases RD around Ponyville, she awakens the other Mane 6 ponies, until they reach Twilight's home at the library. RD spills the beans that the story was so good, she just wanted to sneak into the hospital to finish it.
Twilight is surprized the story is so good, it caused ponies to "resort to petty theft," and so she decides to lend Rainbow the book to finish. Rainbow thus learns a valuable lesson about how reading isn't just for "smart ponies" like Twilight, but for everypony - including world class athletes like herself.
End Spoilers:
There really isn't much in the way of capitalist or libertarian undertones I can take from this episode (it was also Derpy-less).
Reading is, in my opinion, one of the most critical activities any person can do. Without reading and the expansion of an individuals knowledge and imagination the only thing a person is fit to do is to monotonously exchange their labour in order to sustain themselves. With the excess that labour provides and lack of intellectual development, the only thing that person is fit for is to indulge in meaningless activities to pass the time.
In our modern society this is especially prevalent, in that most people in the middle class do not take the time to read. They are debt and tax slaves to the chrony corporatist system that seeks to keep them in a state of mindless, ignorant bliss - distracted and diluded by perverse, violent, or otherwise meaningless and unimaginative intellectual pornography.
If is my opinion that if more of the middle class in Western society took the time to develop thier mind, with as simple an act as reading a book, they would realize how enslaved they are and how sad and sorry of a state they live in. One of the capitalists I admire the most is Robert Kiyosaki. In his "Rich Dad" series of books he makes the claim that "your greatest asset is your mind." It is sad that in the real world, between the Superbowl, American Idol and Jersey Shore, most people, particularly among the middle class, do not take the time to invest in their most important asset.
In Equestria, the is no distraction industry like the mainstream television in the real world. In my opinion, the magic of capitalism is what in Equestria prevents them from needing it in the first place.
